Research and Environment

Ensuring future success through research

Ever since we were founded in 1922, research & development has been a major part of our daily business.

Competitive advantage through research

LOBA plays a leading role in the research and development of new technologies for parquet finishes. More than 25 experts work in the development of varnishes, oils and floor-care products, in the testing laboratory and in applications technology. The now indispensable two-component, waterborne varnishes for floors were first made marketable by LOBA!

Advanced Technology – for the discerning customer

Advanced Technology (A.T.) represents the latest generation of LOBA products with revolutionary technologies, innovative raw materials and/or improved application. These products have outstanding properties that are unique in the industry.
A.T. products are low-emission (VOC < 80g/L) and meet all current employment and consumerprotection
requirements.

For Mankind and the Environment

For us, environmental responsibility means: taking action

Out of a sense of responsibility for our customers, our employeesand our environment we have been committed to the developmentof waterborne and low-emission products for many years now.We reduce solvent content and use natural raw materials.Furthermore, the VOC content of our waterborne finishes is farbelow California's SCAQMD Rule 1113 which sets the limit to275g/l VOC.In October 2011 LOBA was awarded certification for its qualityand environmental management system: ISO 9001:2015 and 14001:2015.

Quality seals and ecolabels, as well as their test criteria

The main criteria for the award of an ecolabel are the limitationof the above-described SOLVENT CONTENT and the closelyassociated EMISSIONS TEST, which assesses the quality of indoorair. Often an ASSESSMENT OF THE PRODUCT’S COMPOSITION isalso performed in order to check whether it contains substanceshazardous to human health and the environment.

International environmental certifications

EMICODE® Zertifizierung

The legally registered and protected EMICODE® mark certifies building materials and products that release either zero or very low fugitive emissions into indoor air. The licence is awarded by the Association for the Control of Emissions in Products for Flooring Installation, Adhesives and Building Materials (GEV). EMICODE® EC1 and EMICODE® EC1R stand for very low emissions. Products marked with this rating offer maximum protection from indoor air contaminants.

DIBt – 'national technical approval'

For health and safety reasons, the German approval body DIBt (Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik) requires ‘national technical approval’ (allgemeine bauaufsichtliche Zulassung) for all building products used for the on-site treatment and gluing of parquet and wood flooring; certified building materials are labelled with the Ü mark. This approval requirement went into effect in Germany on 1 January 2011. In order to receive approval, the product’s compliance with emission limits must be demonstrated, and the DIBt must be provided with comprehensive information on the product’s composition.
